More than meets the eye.

Seriously, now, how pathetic is it that Transformers is Michael Bay’s best movie?

Don’t get me wrong, the movie was awesome. I only have one complaint and that’s about the voice of Megatron. (Hugo Weaving did a good job but, man, he’s no Frank Welker!) It didn’t rape my nostalgic love of the series, it had awesome characters, John Turturro brought the brilliant (and apparently pretty good imitations of Michael Bay himself), it had Samantha Smith in a bit part, and it didn’t take itself too seriously. Plus they used the catchphrase. Twice. Legitimately and not gratuitously which is huge huge points.

And did anyone catch what the hell that J.J. Abrams movie was supposed to be? The entire theater was very ‘wtf?’ when we saw the promo because, unlike good promos, they never showed the title of the movie. Time for a trusty imdb check! All I can find is Star Trek, which makes no sense… Because it’s listed as pre-production and the release date on that promo was January 2008. I suppose it could be one of the two untitled projects but…? What kind of idiot promos a movie that doesn’t have a title? It looked cool, but come on.

Also, I wonder if I Am Legend will stick closer to the book than The Omega Man. Still looks fun. Of course, I like Will Smith (Wild Wild West excepting and that was a mistake for a lot of people, frankly) so maybe I’m biased.
